Can we add timeliness to your story as well? I ask because I wonder if you had published your book three years ago if you would have received the same bump from the publishing of Under the Dome? Also, having a work that ties in to an icon like King never hurts, eh? Thanks for the chronicling. It certainly is fascinating.

Thanks for the lucid look at a specific path through the maze, Bev. Very informative told in your careful and rational style. What often seems like serendippity in the promotional process is persistent, methodical connecting, just as you say. One can never control the decisions of gatekeepers, but for sure they have no reason to open a gate if no is there asking...

Your mouth to the printing gods' ears!

Yeah, mine was out a few weeks ahead of UtD, but the plan was alway to get it out at about the same time.

Oops. Still, though, yours was released earlier right, and only got the bump up when Under the Dome came out. I wonder if they'll just keep you in print and do the same every time a new King comes out?

If only they'd brought you out at the SAME TIME as Under the Dome - you could have had a full frontal rack (yes, I'm still talking about books) right beside The King himself..

And yes, getting the numbers of people to actually see your book - those who might want to read it - is the biggest problem out there. How do you convince retailers to do anything to help you. You can't be in all the stores nationwide moving your books up front...

Good article, and very cool on the sales rank.
