It was a fairly small group. Jordan (King&#039;s webmaster), King&#039;s assistant, King and some people at Scribner established the overall concept for the ARG before I was enlisted to play my part. They needed someone who had read the book already and was familiar with the character.

Once they had the green light, it was mostly Jordan, King&#039;s assistant and me executing the plan. Jordan designed and implemented the various required web pages and scripts, and he and I developed the coded messages at different steps along the way and discussed strategy. Another member of King&#039;s message board drove people to Joe&#039;s blog.

I worked on the blog for about three weeks before it went live so there would be historical posts that made it seem like the character wasn&#039;t just materializing out of nowhere. It was back-to-school time, which seemed like a good excuse to have a teenager start up a new blog.
