Gerard Houarner is a product of the NYC school system who has had hundreds of short stories, a few novels and short story collections, and a couple of anthologies published.  He works in psychiatric institution by day and writes stories at night, most of them dark.     The things i have seen in terms of pc memory is that often there are specifications such as SDRAM, DDR and so on, that must fit in with the specs of the motherboard. If the pc’s motherboard is reasonably current and there are no computer OS issues, upgrading the memory literally normally takes under an hour or so.
