Publishers Weekly says Alan Russell is, “One of the best writers in the mystery field today.” The New York Times says “Mr. Russell has a gift for dialogue,” and the Los Angeles Times calls him, “A crime fiction rara avis.”

Russell’s eight novels have ranged from whodunits to comedic capers to suspense, and his works have been nominated for most of the major awards in crime fiction.

Russell is a native Californian and is a graduate of UC San Diego. He lives with his wife and three children in Cardiff by the Sea. When not writing, Russell enjoys taking his kayak out into the ocean, and continues to pursue his “misspent youth” playing pickup basketball. He also grows killer tomatoes and makes a mean pesto.
