Thank you for posting this article! It touched me because the sad truth is, book lovers are scarce, especially if they are around my age. Most couldn’t understand why I decided to change my promising major (Interior Design) to English (not as promising) so that I could continue on to get a masters in Library Science.

I always say the same thing. I want to be a writer. I want to read. I want to live my life surrounded by books. To find someone who gets that feeling too, as strongly as I do-It makes a girl not feel so lonely.

I will follow J.F. Constantine on this one. I will definitely slap this article on the wall square in front of my face as I am writing. Later, it will be framed.

Very true. When I started writing, my reading habits were sluggish–about a book every 2-3 weeks. Now, for the past few years, I’ve gobbling up books by the bowlful.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! I think I just fell in total love with your essay.

Reading is totally my drug of choice and has been since I was a wee tyke. Like you, I read WAY ahead of my age range and as one teacher put it, I “rushed through my school work to get to my library book”. (I never did get why this was a bad thing. I was a straight A student).

The sad part about bring a pro writer and still holding down a day job is my reading time has been cut drastically. All these new books calling my name!

I’m sitting here waving at you from a house full of books (and likely to get fuller…) I cannot conceive of a life that does not revolve around them. Books are not so much part of my life as part of my soul…
